In recognition of HIV Awareness Month this December, this webinar explores how telemedicine is strengthening HIV care delivery and outcomes in the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADOC) system. This webinar will explore  benefits of telemedicine in correctional systems—including improved management of chronic and infectious diseases such as HIV—while comparing virtual care to traditional brick-and-mortar models. Participants will learn how telemedicine supports patient engagement, enhances safety, and creates opportunities for experienced clinicians to meaningfully contribute to correctional health.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe clinical, operational, and security advantages of telemedicine in correctional healthcare settings compared to traditional in-person models.
  • Identify common implementation challenges—including technology, staffing, and workflow considerations—and strategies used to overcome them in prison telemedicine programs.
  • Apply best practices for tele-triage, clinical decision-making, and interprofessional collaboration to effectively manage patient needs within correctional environments.
