Description of Services:

Women's Telehealth is an organization that offers high risk OB care, reproductive endocrinology and genetic counseling via telemedicine to rural and urban areas in hospital, private practice and government clinics. Women's Telehealth has completed > 13,000 high risk OB telemedicine encounters since it's inception in 2011. We are currently licensed to provide telemedicine in the 6 Southeastern US states (GA, FL, AL, TN, NC, SC) and adding more each quarter. We count among our clients large private OB practices (>4 providers), the State of GA DCH and second tier HCA hospitals. In 2015, Women's Telehealth entered into their first international partnership based in the Republic of Georgia. Women's Telehealth is vendor neutral and we work with our client's network and hardware legacy systems and equipment whenever possible. WT has used T1, satellite and fiber connectivity points, a variety of telemedicine equipment from national vendors such as Cisco, Polycom and Rubbermaid and has worked with a variety of networks. We provide the following services via telemedicine: Maternal fetal medicine consultation; Limited Reproductive Endocrinology; Obstetric and High Risk Ultrasound; Genetic Counseling; High Risk Obstetric Education Services; Long Distance Learning for Ultrasonographers. Some of our success stories include: a) ATA Website publication for our Public-Private partnership with the State of GA DCH department for reducing preterm labor rates in a targeted population from 18.8% to 8% over 500 pregnancies in an 18 month period; b) Featured on GPB and NPR for decreasing preterm labor rates in rural African American and Hispanic populations; c) Working with a second tier HCA hospital to install an outpatient based Maternal Fetal Medicine program 100% by telemedicine that resulted in decreasing high risk OB transfers out of the community by 94% and retaining neonates in the community NICU vs. tertiary care hospital; d) A national presentation at the American Telemedicine Association for our long distance learning program for rural based ultrasonographers; c) Placement of maternal fetal telemedicine programs directly into larger OB offices to make services more convenient for patients (concurrent with their OB antenatal visits) and more cost effective (no facility fees). Describe how your teleproviders are recruited and selected:
Recruiting MFM providers is mostly through networking as it is a small group advancing only about 60-70 MD's out of fellowship in a year. Selection of providers is based on geographic licensure footprint due to telemedicine licensing requirements, board certification and education programs. All incoming clinicians also undergo internal telemedicine, media training and our long distance learning platform training once they join Women's Telehealth.

Additional company information:

ROI-wise to make the MFM telemedicine program self sustaining for all parties, we use the following metrics when evaluating the cost effectiveness of opportunities: For Hospitals: >750 but <3000 births per year is usually cost effective for putting MFM telemedicine in. For Private OB Office installing their own MFM telemedicine in office: Usually > 3 providers is ideal. Potential Strategic Partners: If you already have a distribution channel but not a women's health component to your service, the Women's Telehealth telemedicine model is very scalable.
