Overview:
This talk will review recent research examining differences in the quality of video, phone, and in-person telemental health care. Outcomes of interest include patient and provider preference ratings, as well as clinical metrics such as mental health hospitalization rates and emergency department visits. The presentation will explore whether the modality through which mental health care is delivered may impact overall effectiveness and satisfaction.
Presenter:
Dr. Samantha Connolly is a health services researcher at the VA Boston Center for Health Optimization and Implementation Research (CHOIR), an Assistant Professor within the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry, an Associate Editor of the Journal of Technology in Behavioral Science, and a practicing clinical psychologist. Her research examines the implementation of video and phone telemental health care, and is currently supported by a five-year VA Career Development Award. In 2023, Dr. Connolly was one of six researchers honored by VA Secretary Denis McDonough during National Research Week for her efforts to improve Veterans’ access to high quality telehealth care during COVID-19.
