Description: Join us in our Envenomations series for another perspective on our slithery desert dwelling neighbors ... venomous snakes! On behalf of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center,   Dr. Smelski will be discussing the different strategies for treating venomous snakebites throughout history.

Learning Objectives:
Describe the historical development of rattlesnake antivenom and explain how evolving regulatory oversight has influenced current clinical standards for its use.

Assess the strength and limitations of available evidence supporting treatment strategies in order to inform management decisions.

Implement evidence-based management strategies for rattlesnake envenomation and avoid outdated or harmful interventions associated with a low likelihood of benefit.
